I wanna be a ROCK STAR!
On the weekend we decided to go and Bogan it up at the Casino.
Why you might ask? Besides coming up with a fab new drinking game – 1 drink per mullet seen, bonus drink for a permed mullet, the SA grand Final for Air Guitar!!
It started at about 2000hrs, there were 6 finalists, and 2 of them were chicks. Funnily enough dressed like scraggy Chrissy Amphlettes crossed with Courtney love. Another bloke looked like the highlander with no hair, and one guy was dressed like Aeorsmith cross …………
The other 2 guys were pretty much run of the mill looking, although one of them wore his tie around his head like the bloke from Dire straits. (Thankfully none of their music was rockin’ enough for an air guitar solo!) The last guy just jumped around the stage in cammo pants and strummed his man bits!
I thought Rob was going to pop a hernia he was laughing so hard and I nearly wet my pants I laughed so much!
The highlander guy had an “Air techie” which is allowed under the rules. She had a fan in the fist round and in the second round she had a water spray bottle with which she cooled the highlander down.
The judges were just as amusing. 2 punk rockers dressed as a corpse bride and a nurse. Some bloke from SAFM and the legendary guitarist from the Zep Boys - Rob Pippan.
I bet the contestants were pooing their pants hoping they got their fingering right!

Anyway the compare was some giant guy in a lime green suit which started us laughing there and it was difficult to stop! He also announced that they were going to run a rock paper scissors comp later on in the year, Yay for Sky City marketing!
He may be known around his hometown of Wollongong, NSW as Darrin Smith - mild-mannered primary school teacher – but outside the classroom this music-loving, 25 year old has – for the past 10 months and under the pseudonym of ‘Jimmy Dangles’ - held the title of 2005 Australian Air Guitar National Champion.
Last year, SA was represented at the national final by Megan ‘Fingers’ Flaherty – the only female competitor against a field featuring the formidable talents of ‘Tommy Air Manuel’ (WA), ‘Mr Damage’ (NT) and ‘Clay Bangers’ (QLD). This year it could be you helping lift the roof off Darwin’s ‘Discovery’ nightclub and vying for the chance to represent Australia at the 11th (…one louder than 10!!) Annual Air Guitar World Championships (AGWC) in Finland in September
All in all a very bloody funny night.
We (De, Justin, Rob and I) managed to make a whole $1 last us for about an hour and a bit on the pokies. We had a democratic vote on what lines and buttons to push and we even went in a particular order.
We only won about $4 but that lasted us, we played until the pokie machines ate all the money. Of course we got the original $1 back for De.
It was very amusing. We must have looked like right dickheads … running around trying to find the 1c machines and then lining up in order and having the odd discussion if we should keep the 10c win or gamble it on a double or nothing card game!
You know what they say … small things amuse small minds.
The mullets kept us pretty much in fits of laughter, and there was even one incidence for the fashion police – which had to be life imprisonment….. A pair of high heel Thigh high UGG boots.
Scrag-a-rama.
Till next time. Party on doods and be excellent to each other
