Tropical Odyssey Part Two…
Day 5 in FNQ.
Monday we requested a shopping tour of the “hot spots”. We came home with many many bags of goodies. (Mostly clothes (for us) and toys for Bert) After a wee nanna nap, Al made a delicious (secret recipe) Spag Bog for tea. We had a few wines/bundies and had a nice night in front of the telly. The dinner and drinks etc, produced a lot of gas that night, kind of like a biohazard but worse.
Tuesday – the day I taught Rob not to drown while trying to snorkel!
We went out to the Base to utilise their very nice pool. I thought it wise to see how Rob went in the pool before throwing him in the deep end (so to speak) i.e. the Sea. A quick lesson and he was off snorkelling around the pool like a super fish…. Well, a slow kind of fish, but swimming all the same, He even found a 10c piece on the pool floor! He tried out my fins and liked them a lot. We got a wee bit sun-burned from this, so it was time for a lot of aloe Vera.
We also went to “tight arse Tuesday” and saw CRANK. Handsome Rob etc. It was kind of a cross between - Lock Stock/reservoir Dogs/ Snatch, a bit weird, but all the same, not too bad. Most likely not worth seeing twice. We then got Cars and the De-Vinci Code for the evenings viewing.
Today – we booked a night on Maggie Island (as the yokels call it) and have figured out Ferry Tickets and such. Al dropped us in town to do some more shopping (I think he’s not too keen to wander around the shops) Rob and I discovered a Rivers Outlet – Oh joy! Picked up some very nice ¾ pants, a few shirts and a couple pair of shoes. We had lunch at the Cowboys League Club or as Rob dubbed it the ‘league of extraordinary Cowboys” After that there was time for some Tacky Souvenir shopping and more sticky beak-ing around town.
Tonight we are going Yachting with Angela (an old Rover from Adelaide) so there is time for another Nanna nap if we are quick!
I called Bert last night – apparently he is not missing us much, and has some how conned his way to sleeping on Bob and Janine’s bed at night. It seems him and Kaylee are getting on fine. She tips water bowls over and Bert then sits in it!
Looking forward to going to the Island – we have booked into a rather posh resort (well, it looked posh on the internet!) Going to see about doing a dive and then some snorkelling with Rob.
