What's in a song?

Bugger me... the titles of songs now days are the most un-imaginative pile of hogs-wash I have ever heard, not only that what is with the same monotonous hip hop crap rap beat? Not to mention the crap film clips.

On the weekend we dared to turn on the telly on a lazy Saturday morning to surf for cartoons (which were also very disappointing!) But cartoons redeemed themselves with an awesome Batman cartoon – but they only played a small bit, it was part of a crap formatted Disney show, that kept skipping through various snippets of cartoons.
Next we found that most of the music shows were on; Rage was ho-hum so we flicked to video hits or something similar.
Not only were we visually assaulted we were also audio logically challenged. Crap names of songs (that were in the top 10) were
Promiscuous
Unfaithful
Buttons (you can push my)
All of them sounded the same, there was very little melody and the clips were appalling. The number one hit was “I want to be a punk rocker” (with flowers in my hair) which was passable.
It was then we realised we were old.

I was happy to work with triple J for the day on the radio, but Rob wanted 102.3, a weird part of me agreed and was kind of glad for the ye olde songs of the 80’s. Sad I know, except I had to turn it off when Meat Loaf was on. I would never stoop that low!

So we renovated away to such tunes as “Sledgehammer”, the B52’s Rock lobster, “call me Al”, Gloria Gaynor’s “I will survive” – which was quite apt considering what we were doing – which was putting up the new ceiling.

These old songs inspired Rob to come up with some lyrics of his own, and he sang a song to the tune of “see my vest” which had the line “Grizzly bear underwear” he changed it to “Cavoodle Hair underwear” this eventuated due to Bert running off with items Rob was leaving on the floor (a pack of wall plugs, cleaning rags, socks etc) He decided to sing to Bert about what he was going to do when he caught him!

Anyhow, we achieved quite a lot in the weekend, Vanity is now gone, all the tiles – including wall and floor are all gone, which led to an interesting discovery. Half the floor is concrete and the other half is hard compacted sand – the bastards tiled straight over it!
There is no light or fan – which still does not matter as the room is very open plan now. We bought a shower base from bunnings, which is residing in the dining room right now. The plaster board has been prepped and cut and is waiting to go in, and tonight after taking Bert for a walk, is sanding of the plaster on the new ceiling.

Hopefully there is an end in sight … the ceiling was the first NEW thing to go in the bathroom! A most momentous occasion!
